A Guide to a Day of School Holiday Fun and Learning

11th September, 2024

Welcome to the Junior Engineers Program, where curiosity meets creativity and young minds are shaped into the engineers of tomorrow! Whether your child is a budding coder or just starting to explore the world of technology, our program offers a structured yet dynamic day designed to engage and inspire. Here’s a peek into what a typical day looks like, and how you can help prepare your young engineer for a day of discovery.

Program Structure for our Coding & Robotics Classes

8:30 AM - Arrival and Setup

The day kicks off with a warm welcome from our team. Parents arrive, and students get settled into their designated workstations. This is a great time to ensure everything is in place and ready for the day’s activities. Kids will need their laptops or tablets fully charged and any necessary software pre-installed. Check out our list of required software and devices before the day begins to avoid any last-minute technical hiccups.

9:00 AM - Icebreakers and Introduction

We start with a burst of energy and excitement as we dive into icebreakers and introductions. These activities are designed to make everyone feel comfortable and connected, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. It’s a fun way for students to get to know each other and get excited about the learning journey.

9:30 AM - Hands-On Coding Project

Next up, students jump into a small project that familiarizes them with the coding interface. This practical exercise is all about getting comfortable with the tools they'll be using throughout the program. It’s a chance for them to explore and experiment in a low-pressure environment, making it easier to grasp more complex concepts later on.

10:15 AM - Morning Tea Break

A well-deserved break to recharge! Students can grab a healthy snack from their lunchboxes and chat with their peers. It’s a great opportunity for informal learning and bonding over shared interests.

10:45 AM - Dive into Coding Concepts

With energy levels replenished, we dive into fundamental coding concepts like variables and loops. These sessions are interactive and designed to build a strong foundation. Our approach is hands-on and engaging, making abstract concepts accessible and fun.

12:00 PM - Lunch Time

It’s time for a well-earned lunch break. We encourage parents to pack a nutritious and balanced lunch to keep those brains buzzing. Think protein-packed sandwiches, fruits, veggies, and a bottle of water. Avoid sugary snacks that might lead to an afternoon slump. A well-chosen lunch helps maintain energy levels and focus throughout the afternoon.

1:00 PM - Project Work

After lunch, students roll up their sleeves and dive back into their projects. This is where they apply what they've learned and get creative with their coding skills. Whether they're building a simple game or a mobile phone app, this time is dedicated to hands-on project development.

2:30 PM - Afternoon Tea Break

A short but sweet break to refresh and socialize. Students can enjoy another healthy snack from their lunchboxes, catch up with friends, and take a breather before jumping back into their projects.

3:00 PM - Project Finalization

As the day progresses, students focus on finalizing their projects. This is where they refine their work, troubleshoot issues, and make those final adjustments. Our instructors are on hand to offer guidance and support, ensuring every student can showcase their best work.

4:15 PM - Pack Up

With projects wrapped up, it’s time to pack away supplies and prepare for pickup. Students organize their materials and wrap up any remaining tasks. This is a great time for a quick review of the day's achievements and a chance for students to reflect on what they've learned.

4:25 PM - Parent Pickup

Parents arrive to pick up their budding engineers. It’s a chance to hear about their day, review the projects they’ve worked on, and celebrate their accomplishments.
